ENVIRONMENTAL DISCOURSES IN RIO DE JANEIRO STATE EAST METROPOLITAN AREA: an analysis of curricular documents

Abstract

In the current environmental context the articulation between education and the environment becomes relevant, considering elementary education as a privileged stage of humanization, socialization and social direction. The purpose of this study was to understand the purposes of teaching and environmental conceptions in curricular documents in the metropolitan east of Rio de Janeiro. The research had a qualitative methodological approach and it was used the technique of content analysis. In the PCN, in the Minimum Curriculum of Rio de Janeiro and in the municipal curricular proposals predominate the vision of environment as nature and resource and utilitarian and pedagogical purposes in the teaching of environmental themes in Science subject. The research points out the importance of approaching local socio-environmental issues in curricular documents aiming at changes in the understanding of the relationship between human being and environment and actions for the transformation of social and environmental reality.
