ERROR CORRECTION IN THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING

Abstract
This article is devoted to the problem of error correction in foreign language teaching. It is shown that errors and their correction are considered as an important component, a way of teaching language. A notion “error” is defined and the aims of its correcting in foreign language teaching process are determined. It is accentuated that error correction is a complex phenomenon and many variables like age, educational background, kind of errors etc. should be taken into consideration. An attempt to formulate some principles as to error correction in the process of foreign language teaching is made.
