ЕТАПИ МЕТАПРАГМАТИЧНОГО АНАЛІЗУ ДИСКУРСУ

Abstract
У статті теоретично обґрунтовано виокремлення метапрагматичного аналізу на основі його зв'язку з прагматичним аналізом та дискурс-аналізом; установлено основні етапи проведення метапрагматичного аналізу. Зосереджено особливу увагу на визначенні мета-функцій; роз’яснено природу якірних засобів, виходячи з їхньої експліцитності / імпліцитності. Виділено три ступені метапрагматичного калібрування дискурсу, а саме: номічне, репортативне та рефлексивне. The article theoretically justifies the necessity of singling out metapragmatic analysis on the basis of pragmatic analysis and discourse-analysis. Thus, discourse is understood as a metapragmatic condition, and metapragmatics is viewed as the theory of how metadiscourse is used in interaction. Three steps of metapragmatic analysis are set up. The first one deals with meta-functions. Viewed narrowly, meta-functions underline the unique capacity of language to self-reference and references on the created effect. Analyzed broadly, they serve to organize the meta-units in interpretative events of a certain type resulting in various discourse types determined by the specifics of language use in interaction. The second step is to study the types of denotative explicitness of discourse on the basis of its explicit and implicit means which function metapragmatically. Explicit and implicit means are viewed as signals or indicators of metapragmatic awareness in language use and function as anchoring means marking the location of the linguistic form in the context and signaling about the reflexive interpretations of language users as for the types of activities they perform. Implicit means are characteristic of the function of metapragmatic discourse management. The brightest example here might be the poetics of stance-taking. Poetic structures function metapragmatically, interpreting verbal actions and high-level mechanisms on the basis of signs arrangement. Explicit means are used in the function of reflexive conceptualization either on the level of reporting on verbal behaviour or on the self-referential level. Special attention is paid to metapragmatic calibration, understood as the degree of metapragmatic intensity of some discourse, identified between metapragmatic signaling event and signaled pragmatic event-structure. Three degrees of metapragmatic calibration are distinguished, that is, nomic, reportive and reflexive. Nomic or traditional calibration minimizes explicitly expressed metapragmatic signals. Reportive calibration is explained on the basis of Goffmanian theory of framing. And, reflexive calibration correlates with Bateson’s interpretation of metacommunication.
