Evaluation of criteria and outcome of conservative approach in management of blunt trauma abdomen

Abstract
Background: Non-operative treatment approaches are becoming more common in blunt truma abdomen. This study was conducted to evaluate outcome of this conservative approach in management of blunt trauma abdomen. Aim and objective: To evaluate the criteria and outcome of conservative approach in management of blunt trauma abdomen Material and methods: 110 cases of blunt trauma abdomen were studied. After initial resuscitation all cases were managed according to guidelines. Hemodynamically unstable patients were treated by surgeries. Data was collected with pretested questionnaire. Data was analysed for evaluation of conservative approach. Results: Male preponderance was seen in blunt trauma abdomen. RTA was most common mode of injury (71%). Liver was most commonly involved organ (40.9%). Postoperative complications were common in converted group. Mortality was zero in conservative approach.
