Evaluation of Dentosept® mouthrinse effect on periodontal status and on the activity of exoglycosidases in crevicular fluid in patients with chronic periodontitis

Journal Title: Journal of Stomatology (Czasopismo Stomatologiczne) - Year 2009, Vol 62, Issue 4

Abstract

Aim of the study: To evaluate Dentosept® mouthrinse influence on periodontal clinical status and on the activity of N-acetyl-ß-hexaminidase (HEX) and ß-glucoronidase (ßG) in crevicular fluid in patients with chronic periodontitis.Material and methods: A total of 25 patients with CP qualified for the study. Depending on the treatment method patients were randomly divided into two groups. Clinical and biochemical examinations were carried out at the baseline and two weeks later. Results: API, BOP and PPD parameters significantly decreased in group I while CAL and GR remained on similar levels. In group II scaling caused significant improvement of API, PPD and CAL but BOP and GR were not significantly affected. Conclusions: Administration of Dentosept® mouthrinse after scaling does not additionally influence the improvement of periodontal parameters or the reduction of enzymatic activity.
