Evaluation of the cardiovascular status of pulmonary tu-berculosis patients with positive smear new cases in both phthisiology departments of the two national hospitals of Niamey

Abstract

Background. Heart attacks among pulmonary tuberculosis with positive microscopy (TPM +) are common , hence the need to carry out this study. Objective. To evaluate the cardiovascular status of patients TPM + new cases in Niamey. Methods. This was a prospective study over a period of 6 months ( 1 February 2014 to 31 July 2014). She was concerned patients aged 15 and older hospitalized for TPM + new cases not having a heart underlying pathology in phtisiology services 2 National Hospital of Niamey. Results. of 119 patients hospitalized for new TPM + cases, 6 had cardiac disease associated with all chronic pulmonary heart (CPH) or a frequency of 5 %. Men accounted for 77.3% with a sex ratio of 3. The mean age was 39.39 years, ranging from 15 to 80 years.The clinic was dominated by pulmonary condensation 64% , the noise of 4.2% right gallop , breath tricuspid 3.4%, leg edema 6.7%. Chest radiography showed a cellular syndrome 94.1% and 3.4% cardiomegaly. The ECG was objectified 5% sinus rhythm, 2.5% tachycardia and microvoltage each atrial hypertrophy and right ventricular 1.7%. Cardiac ultrasound signs were HTAP 3.3% , dilated right cavities 2.5%. HIV accounted for 7.6 %. The average time bacteriological diagnosis was 3 months and the majority of patients were 54% 3 crosses. Conclusion. Cardiac involvement related to the TPM + new case is significant hence the value of the search , in order to ensure ade-quate support.
