EVALUATION OF THE CORRELATION OF OXYGEN EXTRACTION COEFFICIENT AND THE INDEX OF THE TOTAL PERIPHERAL RESISTANCE IN CONDUCTING ARTIFICIAL BLOOD CIRCULATION

Abstract

Purpose. To evaluate the relationship between oxygen extraction coefficient and index of total peripheral resistance of blood vessels during artificial circulation. Methodology. We have derived and justified formula for the integral index of the arterial vessels, which depends on the oxygen extraction coefficient and the index of the total peripheral resistance of the vessels. We have calculated two parameters: the oxygen extraction coefficient and the index of the total peripheral resistance of the vessels. Both of these parameters were divided into groups by temperature and depending on the stage of the operation (cooling or warming) and calculated correlation between theme. Results. Using the SPSS Statistic program, total correlation coefficient between oxygen extraction coefficient and total peripheral resistance of the vessels, which is “0.041” (correlation is significant at 0.05) has been calculated. That means very weak direct corre-lation. By calculating the correlation coefficient between this two parameters depending on the temperature, was ob-tained an increasing of the correlation coefficient from the very weak to medium inverse correlation. The dependency between the oxygen extraction coefficient and the index of the total peripheral resistance has increased significantly, from the medium inverse to strong inverse correlation, considering the grouping not only in temperature, but also in the processes of warming and cooling. The best correlation for a temperature of 32 ° C is “ -0.340”. If using the same temperature of 32 ° C split it into " cooling " and " warming " process , the values increased to “-0.59” and “-0.71”. At a temperature of 28 ° C during cooling, the correlation coefficient is “-0,900”, which indicates very strong inverse correlation. Originality. For the first time, we have carried out the integrated research of the relationship between the oxygen extraction coefficient and the index of total peripheral resistance of blood vessels during artificial circulation. Also we found that the correlation of the oxygen extraction coefficient and the index of the total peripheral resistance of the vessels depends not only on temperature, but also on the process of introduction (cooling) to the state of hypothermia and withdrawal (warming up) of it. Practical value. We calculated the integral characteristic of the arterial vessels based on the performed calculation. The experimental studies have confirmed the relationship between the oxygen extraction coefficient and the index of total peripheral resistance of blood vessels during artificial circulation which allows to describe the process of breathing in tissues.
