HYDRAULIC CURTAINS TESTING FOR AIR PURIFICATION FROM HARMFUL CONTAMINANTS IN THE UNDERGROUND MINE OPENINGS

Abstract
Purpose. To determine the technical parameters of water-air installation for formation of high pressure hydraulic curtains. Usage of this installation allows to realize an effective purification from harmful air contaminants. Methodol- ogy. The authors have carried out experiments of water-air installation with a view to determine its technical parameters such as: average diameter of the water droplets; expansion length of the jet; induced air quantity. Results. The experi- ments of water-air installation which is proposed to be used for air purification from harmful contaminants have been carried out at an industrial site of the mines in Kryvbas. This installation consists of hydraulic curtains. The water sup- ply is carried out from general mine pipeline. It has been proposed to use this water-air installation for air purification from harmful contaminants in the underground mine openings on deep horizons (1500 m), where the static pressure reaches 1,5 MPa, which ensures the effective functioning of hydraulic curtains. Originality. It has been developed the water-air installation for formation of hydraulic curtains of a high pressure. This hydraulic curtain has an electric field with negative polarity which conduces to effective coagulation of dust, its settlement and neutralization of harmful gas. Practical value. The maximum range of water-air jet is 30-35 m, average diameter of the water droplets are 28-34 µm. The results have been obtained when the values of pressure in general minepipeline were equal to1,0-1,5MPa and the width of an annular outlet of air-water mixture was 1-2 mm.
