IDENTIFICATION OF NATURAL WATERS WITH STABLE ANIONIC–CATIONIC COMPOSITION

Abstract

Purpose. To obtain a generalized parameter based on the electrical conductivity parameter to ensure the identification of natural water with a stable anionic-cationic composition. Methodology. Initially, the electrical conductivity of the original water sample has been measured. Then, the identification coefficient has been calculated to identify the water sample. Where, an identification coefficient (KId) has been measured as the tangent of slope angle for the dependence of the inverse conductivity on the degree of diluting investigated water by distilled water. Results. The electrical conductivity of a solution depends on the concentration of electrolytes dissolved in it. Determination of electrical conductivity of natural waters has been carried out with using a conductometric method. As a generalized parameter, it has been suggested to use the tangent of slope angle for the dependence of the inverse conductivity on the degree of diluting investigated solution - the identification coefficient (КId). For the identification of a sample of natural water, KId and the electrical conductivity of the previously diluted investigated solutions have been used. The approach has been implemented on a number of natural waters: Berezovskaya, Ostrechenskaya, Mirgorodskaya, Borjomi. It is noted that the identification coefficients significantly differ among themselves both for waters of different types and for waters of the same type. Originality. It has been proposed to use the new generalized parameter - identification coefficient as the tangent of slope angle for the dependence of the inverse conductivity on the degree of diluting of solutions and the value of the electrical conductivity of the initial solution for identification of naturel waters, which is the scientific novelty of the work. The identification coefficient depends on the nature of the ions in the solution and their ratio. Identification by means of the identification coefficient is low-cost, easy to perform, environmentally friendly. Sr does not exceed 3%. Practical value. The practical significance of the results is the calculation of KId for a number of water samples. The approach has been tested in the identification of a series of samples of natural waters with a stable content of anions and cations, which confirms the diversity of their chemical composition.
