Evaluation of User Comfort at Underground Stations via Istanbul Example

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to guide the design comfortable structures that do not pose a danger to the health and safety of underground subway station users. In this context, it was aimed to control t he comfort of the underground subway stations in terms of user satisfaction. In this study, firstly, a literature search on the subject was made and the rules and details related to the comfort of the underground subway stations were examined. Then, a fiel d study was done to determine the spatial properties of selected stations as samples and a survey was prepared to control the spatial comfort in terms of user satisfaction and the survey results were evaluated in order to measure the satisfaction level of the users in the present situation. The survey results show that the selected station structures as a sample have the weaknesses. Based on this detection, user satisfaction has been emphasized in the design of underground subway station structures and it h as been stated that user expectations should not be ignored apart from the standard design rules and suggestions are given to meet these expectations.
