The Effect of Accessibility for Unmotorized Forms of Transportation in Shopping Centers on Sustainable Urban Development

Abstract
Changes in the concept of shopping has made shopping centres not only places where shopping activities take place but also sociocultural spaces. Because shopping centres are the most important urban function that draws travellers in cities and are centres that address all urbanites, accessibility to these spaces with sustainable forms of transportation both contributes to the sustainable development of the city and grants all urbanites equal rights. The aim of the study is to increase the use of sustainable forms of transportation in accessibility to shopping centres that have important locations in the use of urban terrain in order to ensure sustainable urban development. The field survey performs observations to determine the relationship of spaces set aside for the use of sustainable transportation in cities with shopping centres and a field survey to determine the problems urbanites encounter in accessibility to shopping centres with sustainable forms of transpo rtation. As a result of the evaluation of the findings obtained in the field, it was determined that there are problems in accessibility to the shopping centres selected as the sampling field with sustainable forms of transportation..
