AN ASSESSMENT ON CAR PARKING PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT IN TURKEY

Abstract
Parking areas are an indispensable part of the transport network in cities as a land use decisions. Especially in cities with high vehicle ownership, parking areas, which are one of the main actors in the consumption of valuable urban space, are handled by local government authorities by focusing on many transportation policy development activities. In urban spaces, the legislation on parkin g areas is effective in the construction and arrangement of parking areas. Different levels of economic and environmental externalities can be obtained for the consumption of urban areas according to the level of legislation contributing to the solution of the problems experienced in parking areas. The impact of parking spaces on spaces where there are direct urban activities and the transportation of people requires a detailed consideration of the problems arising from parking spaces in terms of planning a nd management. In this study, the location of car parks in land use in parking spaces in urban spaces, car park planning and management, the position of the car park in the legislation, current car parking problems, applications and possible problem soluti ons, the evaluations obtained through the survey application made by experts in the subject are included.
