Examination of Theses and Articles Conducted with Families of Individuals Diagnosed with Autism in Turkey (2000-2021)

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to examine the families of individuals diagnosed with autism in Turkey and the thesis and article studies conducted between 2000-2021 within the scope of various variables. Document analysis technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the research. For this research, theses were obtained from the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education and the articles were obtained from Google Scholar. Key words in the search were autism, autism spectrum disorder/pervasive developmental disorder, family, parent, mother, father. In the theses and articles included in the research; The fact that it was conducted with the families of children who received a diagnosis from the field of pervasive developmental disorders, The cases examined were made for families of children who were diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorders within the scope of opinion, case, comparison, effect, and that the title of the studies was autism, family, parent, mother, father, autismspectrum disorder The characteristics of having autistic concepts were sought. In this direction, a total of 73 theses and articles were reached in the research. Thesis and Article Review Form, which was finalized with expert opinion, was used in the research. Theses and articles; Year, type, research method, research technique, data collection tools, characteristics of the sample group, statistical analyzes used in data analysis and study subjects were examined. As a result of the study, it was seen that the most studies were done in 2020 (f=14), the most of the studies were in the type of articles (f=41), the theses were generally made in Istanbul and Maltepe University, the most of the theses were done in the Social Sciences Institute (f=22). It was determined that the most used quantitative method (f=43) was used in the studies, and the most used research techniques were the descriptive and relational survey model (f=34). In the studies, the General Information Form (f=43) was mostly used, the t-test (f=25) was mostly used in the analysis of the data, the research population was Istanbul (f=23) and the families of the Individuals Diagnosed with Autism ( f=5047) was found to be included. Based on the data obtained, it can be suggested that more scientific research be conducted on the families of individuals diagnosed with autism in Turkey.
