Execution of caring function in a family raising the intellectually disabled child based on family research in Lubelskie Province

Abstract
This article presents the research on families raising the intellectually disabled child. The information on looking after an intellectually disabled child was collected. The research was conducted in three counties of Lubelskie Province using author’s questionnaire. There were two hundred twenty two participating parents. Parents were of the opinion that their care for a child was very good or good. There was a higher activity of mothers in looking after children compared with fathers. Higher educated parents showed significantly more often egalitarian attitudes in caring for a child, i.e. feeding children, rehabilitation, spending free time with them.
