Experimental Study of Vertical Mechanical Properties of Scrap Tire Pads

Abstract

The vertical mechanical experiments of scrap tire pads ( STP) made of three common tire types of all season tire and snow tire were conducted.The effects of width, length and types of tire on the vertical ultimate strength, the vertical compressive stiffness and the vertical deformation performance were studied. The results show that the tire type has less influence on the vertical ultimate strength of STP.The distribution of the vertical ultimate strength of the snow tire is more concentrated and relatively stable than that of the all season tire when the size is same.The vertical compression stiffness increases with the increase of the width and length of STP.The vertical compression stiffness of the all season tire is about 5% higher than that of the snow tire when the size is same.The vertical deformation performance of STP of the two tire types is less than 3% which show good deformation performance.
