EXPRESSION OF THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT OF THE COLLEGE LIBRARY IN STUDENTS’ SELF-STUDY PROCESS

Abstract
The attitude towards college library, the priorities of its activities change. New functions of its activities are formed, the attitude towards teaching/learning in a college changes. The library as a subsystem of the college has new functions: it becomes the center of information and self-study on purpose to make optimal environment for studies. The place where the user – students and teachers – can use printed documents, different information technologies, he/she can get technical help, consultations and training. The services provided in the library relatively can be evaluated insofar as they subserve the quality of college studies, how much the environment of the library contributes to the process of learning. On purpose to achieve it, it is very important to analyse the students’ needs and their attitude towards the library. It helps to perfect the system of services. The analysis of learning environment in the library of Šiauliai college was carried out. The attitude of students is presented in the article. It highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the activities of the library, recommendations for practical activities are reasoned theoretically.
