Journal Title: Науковий вісник Південноукраїнського національного педагогічного університету імені К. Д. Ушинського - Year 2018, Vol 125, Issue 6
Abstract
The article presents an analysis of reference sources, psychological, philosophical and pedagogical studies of domestic and foreign scientists on the problem of adaptation of future specialists, including foreign students, within educational activities in institutions of higher education. The main factors that influence the course of adaptation of future foreign specialists of technical specialties are determined. It has been established that: 1) the adaptation of a foreign future specialist takes place in two directions ‒ their adaptation to the socio-cultural space of Ukraine and adaptation to education in the institution of higher education, connected with the recognition of oneself as a student, and which is a general characteristic both for domestic and foreign students; 2) the process of the future foreign specialists’ adaptation to their stay conditions in a new country requires that a teacher should analyse the dominant traits of character, the peculiarities of the psychological state of each student and assist a future specialist in transforming the feeling of forced independence into the ability to rational self-organization and the ability to make independent living decisions; 3) adaptation depends on the student’s education level, his / her social status, the peculiarities of interaction between students of different nationalities, the ability to solve misunderstandings, to exit the conflict situation and other psychological reactions to the new environment; 4) the experience of critical situations, which can have both positive and negative nature and equally contribute to the improvement of the quality of the future foreign specialists’ training in the Ukrainian language by training and improving the students’ psychological stability, can be considered as the way of overcoming their psychological barrier; 5) adequate organization of adaptive and pedagogical support of foreign students within the educational space of Ukraine contributes to the implementation of a tolerant cross-cultural dialogue as well as the effective organization of the Ukrainian-language training aimed at future foreign specialists of technical specialties.
