Features of development of the motivational-volitional sphere of junior age swimmers

Abstract
The article reveals the main theoretical approaches to the study of the problem on the formation and development of the motivational-volitional sphere in sports activities. The motivational factors among adolescent athletes in both youth and adult categories are empirically investigated. The greatest indicators of the motivational factor are the desire for self-improvement, which includes the needs directed at the development of physical and volitional qualities. The study of volitional qualities showed that there were statistically significant differences between the groups of youth and adult catepories of professional swimmers according to the parameters of purposefulness, perseverance and persistence, independence and initiative, determination and courage.
