FEATURES OF ELECTRIC-SPARK COATINGS FORMATION ON STEEL SURFACE AT THE PROCESS OF LAYER-BY-LAYER DEPOSITION OF TITANIUM, ALUMINUM AND IRON

Abstract

It was established that multi-stage Electric-spark alloying (ESA) in air with variation of the sequence of doping anodes metals deposition: Ti-Al-Fe; Ti-Fe-Al; Fe-Al-Ti; Fe-Ti-Al; Al-Ti-Fe; Al-Fe-Ti leads to an increase in the surface microhardness of Steel 50 from 6.6 GPa to 12.8 GPa and 2.5 to 7.2 times wear resistance. This is due to the formation of intermetallic com-pounds Ti(Fe0.62Al0.38)2, Fe2Al5, Fe2Ti and oxides TiO2, Al2O3 which formed as a result of the interaction of electrodes materials with each other and with air oxygen under the extreme con-ditions of the ESA process.
