FEATURES OF PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS IN UKRAINE: MOVING CLOSER TO EUROPEAN STANDARDS

Abstract
In the article the author formulates that a public organization is an association formed by individuals for their joint activity to realize their non-political rights and legitimate interests. The public organizations are the constitutional and legal form of public associations. They have the following characteristics of public associations: voluntariness, self-government, non-statehood and non-profit. These features distinguish public organizations from political parties. The public organizations are distinguished from another constitutional and legal form of public associations – public unions – firstly, by the fact that their founders and members (participants) can be only individuals, and secondly, that the founders and members (participants) personally take part in the work of a public organization.
