It is found out that suffixation of the terms is characterized by high degree of productivity and defines as anactive derivative way of cinematographic terms. The suffix acts as an expression of the word-forming meaning of the word replacing the predicate or argument, and allows to specify the lexical meaning of the term. In relation to the origin, the French suffixes are divided in to folk and bookish words, and Ukrainian – in to the national and borrowed which can be combined with specific and borrowed wordstem. It is understood that the number of folk and bookish suffixes are the same in French. The Common-Slavic suffixes predominate in Ukrainian cinematographic terminological system. According to the lexical-grammatical function, the suffixes of French and Ukrainian are divided into suffixes by means of which the nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs are formed. The common in both languages is that the largest number of derivatives are nouns, and the smallest are adverbs. Concerning the productivity of derivatives, the French verbs take the first place in comparison to the Ukrainian where the formation of derivative adjectives is more widespread. The nouns denoting abstract notions, actions, features, processes, states are mostly formed by means of suffixation. The folk international suffixes -eur / -euseand –age are the most peculiar in French cinematographic terminology, but in Ukrainian they are national suffixes -нн- and –ість.
