FEATURES OF THE INTERNET MEME
Journal Title: UNKNOWN - Year 2024, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
The article analyzes one of the tools of internet communication that has gained popularity recently in social networks – the Internet meme. An Internet meme is a unique communicative unit consisting of a two-tiered structure: linguistic (verbal) and visual (graphic). It is a creation of network users that offers a specific subtext to the online community. The work describes the origin and evolution of Internet memes, as well as explores the ideas developed in scientific works. Considering the media nature of Internet memes and distinguishing them from other types of online messages, factors influencing their rapid spread and popularization are identified. Indeed, it depends on its quality and competitiveness. It is clear that creating such an Internet meme requires considerable effort from the author: the Internet meme must be creative and interesting, and its idea should be fresh and original. In connection with this, the conclusion was drawn that some memes “live” on the Internet for a long time, others are forgotten the next day, some are even ignored, while others suddenly “resurge” thanks to a random user
