FORMATION OF WORDS IN THE EVERYDAY VOCABULARY
Journal Title: Закарпатські філологічні студії - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
The article is focused on the study of the everyday vocabulary in the English language at the morphological level. The article used the data on the lexico-grammatical problems of the formation of the everyday vocabulary as a linguistic phenomenon, of such researchers as Sh. Bally, F. de Saussure, N. Trubetskoy, L. Shcherba, S. Ulman, and others. The analysis is mainly focused on the consideration of the intra-linguistic processes leading to the formation of the new everyday vocabulary. The conclusion is made that the -er suffix is the most productive suffix at this level. The article shows the main stylistic stratification of the English language. It is noted that in the modern word-formation system of the English language, the conversion takes place on the basis of using the possibilities of affixation, abbreviation and joining, which covers the whole system of the modern English syntax. The interaction of the word-formation methods of conversion with other convergent methods expands the word-formation base of the language.
