Journal Title: Проблема семантики слова, речення та тексту - Year 2016, Vol 37, Issue 37
Abstract
The article explores functioning of the concept of HOMELAND/VATAN in the Ottoman linguistic mentality. Based on materials of folk texts (Ashik poetry) and elite court literature (literature of Divan), Sufi verses, texts of religious and political discourses, analysis of the components of the concept of HOMELAND/VATAN, typical for the Ottoman time, has been conducted and prevailing conceptual components have been identified. Results of the research allow to affirm, that understanding of a small homeland, typical for the Ottoman period, serves as a foundation for further semantical evolution of the concept from local understanding to understanding on a national level with conceptual components of state/country.
