Abstract
The period of pregnancy with its own characteristics is a process where many applications are discussed for mother and infant. Immunizations during pregnancy is one of these applications. Ideally, women should be vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases prior to conception according to the recommended adult immunization schedule. However, the need of protecting the baby and the mother together, because of exposure risks vaccines are known to be effective. Although it was shown that vaccination during pregnancy is useful and harmless, the rates are below the required levels because of the patients’ and health care professionals’ concerns. The aim of this review is to remind the current practices and to provide an awareness on the subject.
