Gender equality in world’s navigation: legal and organizational bases of ensuring

Abstract
The article examines the internationally – legal and organizational foundations for ensuring equality between women and men in access to maritime vocational education and further employment. The modern reduction of physical activities, increase of comfort and safety on sea vessels, which formed the group of ergonomic conditions of feminization of the profession of a sailor, are emphasized. The international cooperation in securing the rights of women on an equal basis with men has a long history of access to a maritime profession, and the leading international organizations – the ILO and the IMO – devote plenty of attention to ensuring such equality by adopting appropriate recommendations. The author notes that the quantitative indicators of presence of women on ship officer positions are less than the indicators of foreign states in Ukraine, which testifies to the need for further work, aimed at popularizing maritime professions among girls and women, creating favorable conditions for their studying and professional training, the revival of the Ukrainian fleet and navigation by inland waterways of Ukraine, which, at the first stage of seafarer mastering, will provide them with necessary experience in more favorable conditions than multinational crews can ensure on ships under foreign flags.
