GENDER PECULIARITIES OF MOTIVATION TO SUCCEED AMONG ATHLETES

Abstract
The paper explores the dominating level of motivation to succeed among athletes, their achievement and failure avoidance motivation. We have analyzed gender peculiarities using not only gender indicators but also characteristics of masculinity, femininity and androgyny. Our analysis reveals that interviewed athletes of androgynous personality type are characterized by the highest level of motivation to succeed, while low level of motivation is characteristic of athletes of feminine personality type.
