Journal Title: İzmir Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi - Year 2020, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
Since the industrial revolution in our world, fossil energy sources, especially coal and oil, have been preferred as energy sources. For this reason, the fiction in the field of energy geopolitics is based on fossil energy resources. In particular, the asymmetric distribution of oil reserves and consumption points on the world map and its results have been the main field of study of energy geopolitics. Nowadays, there is a decrease in the rocket speed in energy costs generated from renewable energy technologies, especially wind and solar energy. This has made renewable energy technologies more economically preferable than conventional energy technologies using fossil energy resources. Renewable energy technologies are the most prominent technology type in both developed and developing countries in the energy investments to be made until 2040. It is foreseen that there will be significant changes in the traditional energy geopolitical concepts as well as the orientation towards renewable energy sources. The aim of this study is to explain the relationship between changing energy geopolitics and renewable energy technologies.
