General scientific approaches to understanding protection as a universal instrument for the restoration of violated rights

Abstract
The article investigates the theoretical and legal aspects in approaches to understanding the concept of legal protection, analyzes the material and procedural principles of the application of this function of law as a regulator of social relations. Referring to the provisions of the legal monuments of antiquity and documents of the earlier periods of historical development (Laws XII - Tables, “Digesters of Justinian” and the Great Charter of Freedom), the author ‘s definition of the concept of “legal protection” is given.
