Generalized edema in a patient with severe heart and liver failure – diagnosis and treatment

Abstract

A 58-year-old man was admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine due to massive generalized oedema and ascites. The patient had a history of numerous afflictions associated with alcoholism. In order to determine the cause of increasing symptoms, laboratory and imaging tests were performed. Despite intensive treatment, the patient died of rapidly developing heart and liver failure.Key wordsascites, scrotal oedema, oedema, heart failure, liver cirrhosis
