Genesis, defi nitions and problems of genre identifi cation of Martin Amis’s fi ction biography

Abstract
The article dwells on the genesis, de¿ nitions and problems of genre identi¿ cation of Martin Amis’s ¿ ction biography. The author plays the role of the translator, who inÀ uences the recipient. The image of the author is considered as an immediate component of the biographical and memoir prose. M. Amis uses duplicative con¿ gurations of the «self» in his descriptions. This is demonstrated in such novels as «The Rachel Papers» and «Money: A Suicide Note». The theories of Yu. Aikhenvald, O. Halych, T. Iemelianova, D. Karachov. Sh. Sent-Bev, Y. Stoun, Y. Ten, T. Cherkashyna, M. Blasing, H. Nicolson and L. Strachey are analyzed. The sense of ¿ ction biography as the totality of the documents, connected with the text of narration, gives the opportunity to follow the genesis of the writing of the biographical work, to reveal the sources of the biography of the writer and his genre identi¿ cation. It also helps to outline corresponding de¿ nitions. With these de¿ nitions the tendencies related to the literary development of the XX – XXI centuries are connected. This discourse is typical of postmodern writing, the great representative of which is Martin Amis
