Abstract
The creation of The Polish teachers’ Union was preceded by activities of different teaching organizations on Polish lands. Those established since the midnineteenth century had a professional, general pedagogical or self-help character. They emerged in the areas of all the partitions, depending on favourable sociopolitical conditions. The article presents the contribution of the Polish Pedagogical Association in Poznan, the Pedagogical Association in Lviv and the Polish Pedagogical Association in Cieszyn to the professional unification process of the Polish teachers.
