GENRE, PROBLEME AND THEMATIK SPECIFICITY OF NOVEL “FAR SPACE” BY YAROSLAV MELNYK

Abstract

The object of the paper is the novel of the modern Ukrainian writer Yaroslav Melnyk “Far space”. In the article this novel is considered from theoretical and literary positions. It’s genre originality is revealed. “Far Space” has a polygenic nature. One of the ways to study it’s poetics and author’s conception is to analyze the novel as a dystopia. The action in this artistic work takes place in the world of blind people. But they have a governed, which consists of such people, who have sight. They create comfortable living conditions for the blind, but limit their freedom. The blind are deprived of the freedom of consciousness. The hero of the novel is trying to resist this system. The author of paper based on the concept of Professor V. M. Miroshnikov about aesthetic reflection treats this artistic work as manifestation of philosophical dystopia. The article considers in detail the complex of philosophical and religious problems presented in novel through the prism of the original images, reveals the relationship of novel with the Ukrainian mentality, intertextual connections, raises the question of artistic method, notes the departure of the writer from the poetics of postmodernism, at the same time it is noted that the author of novel skillfully combines the strategy of elite and mass literature.
