Geochemistry Evaluation of Limestone for Cement Production: A Case Study of the Area Between Wadi Al Kuf and Wadi Al Mgahi, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, NE Libya

Abstract
A cement is a binder, a substance used for construction that sets, hardens, and adheres to other materials to bind them together. In this work, we conducted a geochemical assessment of the limestones in the area between Wadi Al Kuf to Wadi Al Mgahi, Al Jabal Al Akhdar, and NE Libya. This evaluation is to know the possibility of using the studied limestones for cement production. The chemical data suggest that the limestones of the Marawah, Massah Al Faidiyah, Benghazi, Wadi Al Qattarah, Umm Al Gharaniq and Tansulukh formations are fitting for all types of cement industry (Type II, Type III, Type IV and Type V)
