GEOMETRIC STRUCTURE OF THE GEAR TEETH SIDE SURFACES AND THE PROCESS OF FATIGUE WEAR

Abstract

This study investigates the geometric parameters of the gear teeth side surfaces, formed in the final stage of manufacturing and processing and their influence on the fatigue wear of the surface. Tests were run on gear teeth whose geometry is shaped through the application of two types of finishing treatment: grinding (procedure A) and gear shaving (procedure B). Geometry of the teeth surface is examined on the basis of selected volume and surface parameters as well as functional features. Experimental tests on fatigue wear of the tooth side surface became the starting points for assigning the values of parameters characterising the geometric structure of the examined surface in relation to the determined level of fatigue wear in contact.<br/><br/>
