GLOBAL TRENDS OF INCOME INEQUALITY

Abstract
The article substantiates the fundamental difference between absolute and relative poverty. It is established that inequality of incomes in the country depends on relative income growth at different levels of their distribution. It is analysed the levels of income of certain countries in different points of their distribution, the decile growth of real disposable incomes of households is outlined and there are determined the changes of incomes in the country in the process of their distribution. It is found that the difference in levels of inequality between countries is generally much greater than the difference in the inequality of each particular country at different times. It is proved that consumption inequality in almost all countries is lower than income inequality because consumption harmonized over time through savings earned income. It is researched the evolution of regional mean values of inequality both within countries and regions and proved that the poorest segments of the population in the United States did not feel the real income growth in the last forty years while incomes of the richest population increased annually. It is evaluated the inequality of income in Latin America and found that this region of the world is the most polarized. It is analysed the global distribution of incomes and found that the incomes of poorer half of the world’s population grew faster than incomes of the rich half. Prospects for welfare growth and poverty reduction in the world are proposed.
