«GOGOLIANA» IN THE FUNDS OF THE SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY OF THE ODESSA I. I. MECHNIKOV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY: TO THE 210TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF NIKOLAI VASILYEVICH GOGOL (1809–1852)

Abstract
N. V. Gogol is one of the most interesting writers of national and world literature. His unique and original talent was recognized by contemporaries, although each in his own way. M. V. Gogol’s works found his reader all over the world. Despite the fact that his works are difficult to translate, due to the uniqueness of the Gogol style, soaked by Ukrainian folk folk, by the beginning of the XX century they were translated into virtually all languages of the world. The works of M. V. Gogol become popular not only in the narrow literary environment, but also among the mass reader. His creative heritage still attracts the attention of researchers and simple readers. She inspired composers and artists. In the works of M. V. Gogol many films were shot, musical and artistic works were created. M. P. Mussorgsky wrote on the plot of M. Gogol’s opera «Sorochinsky fair», N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov – «May night», «Night before Christmas», P. I. Tchaikovsky – «Shoes», I. Yu. Repin created his famous painting «Zaporozhians write a letter to the Turkish sultan», not without the influence of «Taras Bulba» Humor «Mirgorod» influenced the work of Alfonso Dod, Francis Brett-Hart, Luben Karvelov, Herman Banga and many others. University «Gogoliana» consists of both works of M. Gogol, and literature on his life and work. The article presents the collection of the periodical publications of M. V. Gogol, copies of periodicals, in which his literary works, articles and reviews were first published, as well as translations into foreign languages that were made during his lifetime. They are stored both in the main fund and in private book collections belonging to the Scientific Library of the Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University. The presented compilation is only a small part of the collections of the University «Gogoliana» and undoubtedly represents an interest both to researchers of the life and work of the great writer, and for bibliophiles.
