HARMONIZATION OF EU CRIMINAL PROCEDURAL LEGISLATION ON VICTIMS STATUS: THE CURRENT STATE AND WAYS OF IMPROVEMENT

Abstract
The article examines the harmonization of the criminal procedural legislation of the EU member states on the protection of the victim’s rights. The analysis of the minimum standards of victims’ rights protection, envisaged in EU normative legal acts on the victims’ status in the criminal process is conducted. It is concluded that there is an evolution and development of the notion “victim”, providing it with an independent procedural status and strengthening of guarantees of the victims’ rights protection, in particular, it is proposed to divide all the victim’s rights into two groups: general rights of victims and procedural rights.
