HARMONIZATION OF THE EU CRIMINAL PROCEDUAL LEGISLATION ON THE PRESUMPTION OF INNOCENCE

Abstract
The article examines the harmonization of the criminal procedural legislation of the European Union member states concerning the presumption of innocence as one of the fundamental principles of the criminal process. The decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, EU legal acts concerning the regulation of certain aspects of the presumption of innocence have been analyzed. It is concluded that the harmonization of legislation regarding the presumption of innocence needs further development and the following step should be harmonizing the national legislation of the EU member states in accordance with the provisions of the Directive.
