Journal Title: Scientific journal «International Journal of Philology» - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 281
Abstract
The article dwells on the problems of interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity in higher schools of Ukraine as key aspects of the development of the academic university education nowadays. Interdisciplinarity is considered to be the application and integration of two or more disciplines resulting in the holistic knowledge and possible emergence of a new discipline, meanwhile multidisciplinarity embraces the coexistence of several disciplines. The implementation of the principles of interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity of training process for the students majoring in “Linguistic Support of Cybersecurity” at the Department of Communicative Linguistics and Translation of Chernivtsi National University has been analyzed. The curriculum envisages the training of students where the arts subjects are combined with those of science. The arts disciplines are taught in addition to the science ones with the multidisciplinary approach, while with the interdisciplinary approach the integration of the arts and science disciplines is observed. In the first case the science subjects are supplemented with foreign language training, and in the second case the arts disciplines are transformed into arts and science ones. This approach in higher education process enables a student to master not only the necessary amount of knowledge but also competences which will make a student more flexible and adapted to the globalized and changeable labor market.
