Abstract
The idea of “a great tragedy about Genghis Khan” refers to the time of L. N. Gumilev’s stay in Norillag (1941). The tragedy in five acts was called “The Death of Prince Jamukha” and was dedicated to the confrontation of ancient steppe liberties, personified by Prince Jamuga (Jamukha), the sworn brother of Genghis Khan, and a tough, ruthless, tyrannical power whose living symbol was Temüjin (Genghis Khan). This is a duel between “the last knight of the Great Steppe” and a tyrant, dictator. Almost all the biographers of L. N. Gumilev (S. B. Lavrov, V. N. Demin, and others) read the hints at the Stalin era.
