Human Trafficking in Ukraine: a View from the Present

Abstract
The article is devoted to the identification and analysis of contemporary trends in the development of such negative phenomena as human trafficking, and the proofed of the fact that the events in Eastern Ukraine and the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has not affected the level and dynamics of crimes under Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is emphasized that in recent years in addressing the problem of trafficking, there has been some one-sidedness. This leads to a biased evaluation of this phenomenon. Beside it is became almost normal «attributed» to human trafficking and cases of illegal activities that have nothing to do with her. The official statistics of law enforcement agencies indicates a fairly stable pattern in this kind of criminal acts in our country. Moreover, the introduction for Ukrainians visa-free regime, a good awareness of the population about the consequences of careless behavior during the realization of his desire to go abroad and spread the practice of the so-called social networks abroad will further reduce the risks of our citizens to become a victim of human trafficking. The article concludes that over time, the problem of human trafficking will be transformed into the problem of risks of Ukrainian citizens from their own (often illegal) labour migration abroad. In addition, the article stated that the unprofessional approach to the assessment of the phenomenon of trafficking in Ukraine can only lead to tensions in society and the introduction of a destabilizing factor in the fight against actual cases of trafficking in persons and other offences bordering on it, but they actually are not.
