Human Visual Perception Concepts As Mechanisms For Saliency Detection
Journal Title: Acta Technica Napocensis- Electronica-Telecomunicatii (Electronics and Telecommunications) - Year 2012, Vol 53, Issue 1
Abstract
Predicting human eye fixations is a difficult task that usually involves complex knowledge about the human visual perception pathways. This paper proposes a method to detect salient locations using a psycho visual space based on color perception, perceptual decomposition of visual information in multiple processing channels and contrast sensitivity as basic concepts. Using a linear support vector machine to train a saliency detector directly from human eye fixation data, salient locations were predicted as a linear combination of features. Testing results have proved that the proposed method performs better than other state-of-the-art methods with certain common concepts.

Fuzzy Logic Based Decision Making for Hydroelectric Energy Generation in a Cascaded Hydropowerplants
Hydroelectric energy is a major source of renewable electricity in the world. The industry is continuously searching for ways to improve the efficiency and reliability with which it produces energy. A method based on sub...
A Matlab GUI for Simulating the Propagation of the Electromagnetic Field in A 2-D Infinite Space
This paper presents a Matlab-based graphical user interface (GUI) that allows the simulation of the propagation of an electromagnetic wave in a 2-D infinite space. The homogeneous, isotropic medium is modeled by using th...
Design Optimization of Analog Active Circuits Using the Genetic Algorithm
This paper presents an optimization tool for the design of analog circuits implemented with commercially-available discrete devices. It takes into consideration the standard values available for the passive components, a...
A Study of the Permutation Schemes Used in the Mobile WIMAX
With the goal of decreasing the interference at sub-carrier level, the allocation of sub-carrier frequencies in an OFDMA based system is selective. This selective allocation can be seen like a permutation of a frequency...
An Approach to Nonrigid US-MRI Registration of Pelvic Organs for Endometriosis Diagnosis
In the field of multimodal medical image registration, the main elements that researchers focus on are the transformation, the similarity metric and the optimization algorithm. There is no state-of-art registration metho...
