A Matlab GUI for Simulating the Propagation of the Electromagnetic Field in A 2-D Infinite Space
Journal Title: Acta Technica Napocensis- Electronica-Telecomunicatii (Electronics and Telecommunications) - Year 2012, Vol 53, Issue 2
Abstract
This paper presents a Matlab-based graphical user interface (GUI) that allows the simulation of the propagation of an electromagnetic wave in a 2-D infinite space. The homogeneous, isotropic medium is modeled by using the Finite– Difference Time-Domain technique and its infinity is modeled with the Perfectly Matched Layer. The GUI provides different ways of displaying the graphical results: 3-D animation (or snapshots from the animation) of the wave propagation, field variations in time recorded by probes placed in the medium, the average power spectrum and also calculates the reflection coefficients. The capability of the proposed GUI is demonstrated with a numerical example: the simulation of the wave propagation in a field with cylindrical symmetry.

Overview of the Cross-Layer Paradigm Evolving Towards Future Internet
The spectacular evolution of Internet services has requested significant improvements of the performances in communications networks. Cross-layering techniques have been selected as one of the most important issues in re...
Broadband Power Amplifier Nonlinearity Cancellation in OFDM Systems
One drawback of OFDM systems is the high peak-to-average power ratio, which imposes strong requirements on the linearity of power amplifiers (PAs). Such linearity requirements translate into high back-off that results in...
Multiple-Input Adaptive Combiner-Equalizer forWireless Communications
Receiver diversity is one of the most efficient techniques against fading and interference effects. MRC (Maximum Ratio Combining) was proven to ensure the highest diversity gain, but it is also the most complex compared...
Multi Binary Turbo Coded WOFDM Performance in Flat Rayleigh Fading Channels
In this paper, the application of Multi Binary Turbo Codes (MBTCs) to two multicarrier modulation techniques used for transmission in the flat radio fading channel is studied. Thus, the performance of the coded versions...
Improvement Of Jot’s Reverberation Algorithm
The paper considers an artificial reverberation algorithm developed by Jot that simulates the behavior of a real concert hall and takes into account the reverberation time’s variation with respect to frequency by using a...
