Hybrid war as a geopolitical conflict

Abstract

The purpose of the article: the study of the phenomenon of hybrid war as a modern form of expression of the geopolitical conflict on the basis of research results of domestic and foreign scientists. Scientific novelty: the concept of hybrid war should be considered not only as a kind of warfare in the modern history of mankind. It is expedient to classify the hybrid war as the newest form of geopolitical conflict. Confirming this is the numerous conflicts that take place in different parts of the planet, which are emerging from the crisis of the previous system of international security. Russian aggression against Ukraine today is an example of a geopolitical conflict and a hybrid form of war that also affects the world order. The occupation of the Russian Federation of Ukrainian territories was made possible by the weakening of the system of world security. This situation creates the need for the formation of new forms of geopolitical coexistence. Conclusions: Conflicts of various kinds penetrate the entire history of mankind. Interstate conflicts are characterized by a peculiarity that they can cause mass deaths both in conflict countries and throughout the world, that is, modern interstate conflicts have an impact on international relations both locally and globally, which transforms them into geopolitical conflict. The peculiarity of Ukraine is the vulnerability of its geopolitical situation, due to the presence of a border with the Russian Federation, which in the conditions of aggressive geopolitics of the Russian Federation causes the role of Ukraine as a buffer zone. A key characteristic of the Russian hybrid war is the total ignorance and direct violation of basic international agreements. In various historical periods, interstate conflicts often acquired different forms of warfare. only a civilized consideration of a geopolitical conflict contributes to the settlement of disputed issues between countries and creates a situation where the use of force methods and the intensity of the hybrid war makes it impossible by the influence of democratic intergovernmental institutions. International cooperation is the most effective strategy of behavior in a geopolitical conflict, aimed at constructive discussion of the problem in finding a solution.
