Identification and intervention of urban worn out texture with a focus on physical features: a case of Marivan town

Abstract
Most of Iran’s cities have historical texture which are mostly old showing the history of the cities in different eras. Also they are considered as cities’ birth certificate. Worn out texture is a challenge for cities’ lives and what is remained in the left old texture is not limited to the texture but spreading throughout the city landscape. Marivan old texture is considered as surrounding old texture resulted as haphazard constructions and development of non-official settlements. The purpose of the present study is identifying worn out textures of Marivan city and presenting solutions to rebuild and optimize the neighborhoods with a focus on physical features. Research method is descriptive-analytic and the data are collected through documentation (mapping and population-housing census) and survey. The data are analyzed by ARCGIS Software. The results of the study show that the existing texture has some problems especially in street network, accesses, building quality, public and private green space and the problem of surface water and sewage disposal. It needs organizing plans requiring public participation and cooperation of organizations such as municipality, road and city construction and other related organizations.
