IMPACT OF ADDED CHALCEDONITE POWDER ON SELECTED CONCRETE PROPERTIES
Journal Title: Structure and Environment - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 4
Abstract
This article is about laboratory tests of concretes with 0%, 10%, 20% of the chalcedonite powder. Tested were the effect of the additions on compressive strength, absorbency and capillary strength of concrete. Compression strength was tested after 7, 14, 28, 56 and 90 days. The absorbability and capillary reinforcement of the concretes were tested after 28, 56 and 90 days. For concrete samples with 20% of the powder, the decrease in strength after 90 days of maturation is no more than 5% compared to the non-additive concrete series. In the absorbance test for the tested series with 20% of chalcedonite powder, a loss of weight gain of 11.3% was noted for the non-additive concrete after 90 days of maturation. The longer the concrete matures, the smaller the weight gain in the capillary action test. A similar tendency was noted for the amount of added additive. The more of the additive, the smaller the mass gain in absorbability and capillary action.
