Improving the Search Performance of Genetic Algorithm to Solve Assembly Line Balancing Problem
Journal Title: International Journal of Business and Management Invention - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
Assembly line balancing belongs to a class of intensively studied combinatorial optimization problems known to be NP-hard in general. For the resolution of such problem, a genetic algorithm (GA) is implemented to solve type E of assembly line balancing problem (ALBP). The paper compares two kinds of GA, one is hybrid GA which hybridized traditional scheme of GA with heuristic priority rule-based procedure, and other one is GA adopted with strategy of localized evolution. Through computational experiments using ten test problems collected from literature, the search performance of traditional GA is improved and the comparisonresults between GAs is reported.
