INCA STATE ORGANIZATION AND THE BASES OF PAX INCAICA
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 42
Abstract
This paper aims to analyse the sophisticated state system of the Inca Empire as an original example of civilisation in the continent of South America and the basic elements in the making of Pax Incaica. Considering their processes of building a state body, expanding their political hegemony and integrating conquered peoples, it is seen that they have a number of features making them different from other civilizations of the world. The Inca Empire made more roads than the Roman Empire did, which is a significant indicator of civilization. The most remarkable feature of the Incas is that they subjugated many regions without resorting to war. It is possible to assert that the Incas had an integrationist and proto-nationalist mindset of administration contrary to the typical empires of their time.
