Journal Title: Збірник наукових праць «Педагогічні науки» - Year 2018, Vol 84, Issue 2
Abstract
The arduous socioeconomic, ecological and ideological situation in the country predisposes the increase in different deviations in children’s individual development, behavior and activity. Pedagogical negligence of primary schoolchildren is viewed as a deviation from the norm in conscience, behavior and studying. These children require a special correcting approach in upbringing and studying. V. Sukhomlyns’kyi, a famous Ukrainian educator, distinguished two groups of pedagogically neglected children namely difficult children and children with impaired studying ability. According to V. Sukhomlyns’kyi the most common reasons for these phenomena are flaws in the child upbringing within family (corporal punishment, psychological and physical abasement or over endearment) and school (pessimistic, emotionless or with prevailing negative emotions attitude to schoolchildren). Although each child is unique, all of them share naturally inborn aspiration to the good. So the teacher must support this aspiration through love, benevolent attitude, empathy and development of imagination and creativity. V. Sukhomlyns’kyi suggested not to single out children with impaired studying ability as the academic success is a relative notion. Individually based work with suchlike children should begin with reading. In the article a number of V. Sukhomlyns’kyi’s individually approached educative modes of work with the pedagogically neglected children are briefly considered.
